Bomb Threats Target Over 100 Schools in Delhi-NCR, Prompting Evacuations

Delhi Police, along with bomb disposal squads and fire service officials, conduct search operations at the affected schools.

On Wednesday morning, more than 100 schools in Delhi and Noida were rattled by bomb threats sent via email, plunging the educational institutions into a state of alarm. In response to the threats, all students were swiftly evacuated as a precautionary measure and sent home.

The Delhi Police, along with bomb disposal squads and officials from the Delhi Fire Service, have mobilized to the affected schools, initiating search operations to ensure the safety of the premises. An extensive investigation is underway to ascertain the origin and credibility of the threatening emails.

Delhi Minister Atishi reassured the public, stating, “Some schools have received bomb threats today morning. Students have been evacuated and those premises are being searched by Delhi Police. So far nothing has been found in any of the schools.” She urged parents and citizens not to panic, emphasizing that school authorities are in constant communication with both law enforcement agencies and parents.

Parental anxiety soared as messages circulated regarding the threats. Praveen, a parent from DPS Dwarka, recounted receiving notification from the school about its closure due to an “unavoidable situation,” later learning of the bomb threat. However, subsequent investigations revealed the threats to be unfounded.

Amidst the chaos, DAV Shrestha Vihar in East Delhi also received a bomb threat call, further exacerbating concerns over the safety and security of educational institutions in the region.

Delhi Police disclosed that the threatening emails were sent with a common pattern, lacking specific dates and employing blind carbon copy (BCC) to reach multiple recipients simultaneously. An ongoing investigation seeks to identify the perpetrators behind the mass dissemination of these threats.
