Dubai Ruler Greenlights Massive $35 Billion Airport Terminal Expansion

Dubai: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, announced on Sunday the approval of a monumental project—a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport—worth 128 billion AED ($34.85 billion), as revealed in a post on X.

The forthcoming terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport is poised to become the world’s largest, boasting a staggering capacity of up to 260 million passengers. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that this expansion will make it five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport. Moreover, he revealed plans for the gradual transition of all operations from Dubai airport to Al Maktoum in the years ahead.
