Chennai: Tamil actor Vishal appears to have taken a subtle dig at Rajinikanth’s unsuccessful political aspirations. Currently promoting his upcoming film “Rathnam,” Vishal was asked if he would consider following Vijay’s path into politics. He responded with a cryptic comment that seemed to be a veiled jab at Rajinikanth. For context, the Tamil superstar had previously announced his intention to enter politics but later withdrew his decision due to health concerns, describing it as a warning from God.
While discussing his own political plans, Vishal appeared to revisit this statement, taking a sly dig at Rajinikanth’s previous remarks. He stated, “Yes, I am going to enter politics. I won’t beat around the bush saying ‘I will come, or I will come only if He (God) tells me to, or I will come when I come’ etc. I will definitely enter politics.” Although he did not explicitly name Rajinikanth, many fans interpreted his comments as a reference to Rajinikanth’s earlier statement.
Superstar Rajinikanth and Politics
Tamil Nadu has witnessed numerous actors transitioning into political leaders over the years. From writer M Karunanidhi and actors MG Ramachandran (MGR) and J Jayalalithaa, who served as Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, to Vijayakanth, Kamal Haasan, Sivaji Ganesan, R Sarathkumar, and Udhayanidhi Stalin, several stars have ventured into politics. Rajinikanth had also expressed intentions to join the political arena. However, he frequently stated that his political decisions would be guided by God.
In December 2020, he announced his plans to enter politics and even form his own party. Nonetheless, a few weeks later, he opted out of his political ambitions due to health concerns. “I see this (hospitalisation) as a warning given to me by God. My campaign will impact health amid the pandemic”, he remarked.
