Vikas Divyakirti Reviews Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ as ‘Fuhad’ Film: Raises Concerns About Film’s Impact

Mumbai: “Animal”, the film by Sandeep Reddy Vanga that delves into the ‘animal’ side of human nature, has been a massive blockbuster at the box office. However, it has also sparked controversy and divided audiences due to its contentious content. While some viewers appreciate Vanga’s portrayal of complex human emotions, particularly those of men, others criticize the film for promoting toxic masculinity and showcasing absurd human psychology. Now, IAS Vikas Divyakirti, whose life inspired the film “12th Fail” directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, has reviewed “Animal” and raised concerns about the message it conveys to society.

In an interview with Neelesh Misra, Divyakirti described “Animal”, starring Ranbir Kapoor, as a ‘fuhad (vulgar or scurrilous)’ film. He stated that films like this set society back by 10 years and urged filmmakers to reconsider the type of cinema they are producing for this generation. “A film like ‘Animal’ takes our society back by 10 years. A film like this should not be made. You earned money. You showed that your hero behaves like an animal. There should be some social value, or are people working only for financial value (sic)?” he questioned.

Itni fuhad aur badtameez film hum bana rahein hai then it is very sad (It is sad when we make such careless and mean-spirited films) but both kinds of forces are always there in the world”, he concluded.
