Mumbai: Parineeti Chopra, who portrays Amarjot, the wife of legendary singer Amar Singh Chamkila, alongside Diljit Dosanjh, is garnering accolades for her performance in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Chamkila’. The actress took to her Instagram story to express her gratitude, revealing that she had been waiting for a film like this for years.
Parineeti shared her heartfelt sentiments about playing Amarjot alongside Diljit Dosanjh in ‘Chamkila’ on Instagram. Her note read, “I am glad that I was able to make an impact with my work in ‘Chamkila’. This is something I’ve waited for years (sic).”

Recently, Parineeti Chopra had shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their efforts to recreate real-life moments from the lives of Chamkila and Amarjot for the film. Along with a video, she wrote, “Diljit and I had the privilege of playing the role of two legends who changed the music landscape in India. Recreating their famous images in the film and seeing them again today gives me goosebumps. Cannot wait to share the world of ‘Chamkila’ with everyone. Wouldn’t have been the same without my jodidaar @diljitdosanjh! (sic).”
For those unfamiliar with the project, both Diljit and Parineeti have contributed their voices to some of the original ‘Chamkila’ songs in Punjabi. The film also features live music recordings conducted on location, capturing the raw energy and vibrancy of each moment as Diljit and Parineeti sang live on multiple occasions.
