In a shocking turn of events, a 13-year-old orchestrated a joyride that ended disastrously for a $500,000 Lamborghini Huracán in West Vancouver. The teenager, masquerading as older, convinced the car’s owner to hand over the keys for a test drive along with a friend.
Amidst dark and rainy conditions on March 25, the young driver allegedly reached speeds of 62mph before losing control of the high-performance vehicle, careening into a ditch off the Trans-Canada Highway.

Police, responding to the scene at around 11 pm, found the Lamborghini abandoned, but eventually located the uninjured occupants at a nearby residence. Astonishingly, the owner hadn’t verified the teen’s age or license status before entrusting them with the car.
While the owner isn’t facing charges, the teen is now charged with speeding, driving without due care, failing to remain at the scene of the crash, and driving without a license. However, they won’t face court unless disputing the tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Sgt. Chris Bigland of the West Vancouver Police expressed concern over the lack of due diligence by the owner, stating that a few additional questions could have prevented the calamity.
Meanwhile, a report has been forwarded to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia to determine claim proceedings. Used Lamborghini Huracáns are valued between $318,888 and $550,900, as per autotrader.ca.
