London: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Rwandan President Paul Kagame are anticipating the inaugural migrant deportation flights scheduled for spring, according to a statement following their meeting on Tuesday.
Sunak’s initiative aims to relocate numerous asylum seekers, particularly those arriving in Britain via small boats, to Rwanda. However, legal obstacles have stalled the implementation of the plan thus far.

After their discussions in London, Sunak’s office affirmed, “Both leaders looked forward to flights departing to Rwanda in the spring.”
Before any flights can proceed, the British government must enact new legislation, which Sunak hopes will facilitate the deportation of asylum seekers to Rwanda. This legislation, designed to prevent further legal challenges to the plan, is slated for parliamentary debate on April 15.
