Kareena Kapoor’s AI-Enabled Transformation into Gangubai Kathiawadi Sparks Debate Among Fans

Mumbai: Alia Bhatt’s stellar performance in “Gangubai Kathiawadi” earned her widespread acclaim. However, the realm of art often invites varied interpretations from its audience. With the burgeoning trend of integrating entertainment with artificial intelligence, Kareena Kapoor’s AI-generated portrayal of Gangubai Kathiawadi has piqued the interest of Reddit users. The video, shared by Instagram handle Bollyvert AI, showcases Kareena in memorable scenes from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biographical drama.

While reimagining actors as beloved movie characters isn’t novel, the online community seems to have contrasting views on this AI transformation. While Alia Bhatt continues to have her supporters, many believe Kareena Kapoor could have been an impeccable choice for Gangubai. Some netizens even proposed AI versions of Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra. Echoing this sentiment, a fan remarked, “Uff reminds me of bebo in chameli. She was so effortless in that one.”

Another user shared a dissenting view, stating, “Unpopular opinion but Alia Bhatt was terribly miscast in this movie.” One user speculated on the casting choices, writing, “That makes me wonder, why didn’t SLB choose Kareena. Alia could have played the younger part and Kareena the older part. Alia was great, no doubt. But Kareena could have been more impactful I guess.” However, a cinephile defended Alia’s portrayal, sarcastically commenting, “Since when did Bebo become such an ‘actress’ that she could play this role (skeleton face emoji).”
