Beijing: Recent tensions have surfaced between Russia and China following Moscow’s request for a loan, as reported by journalists from the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
In recent years, the bond between Russia and China has strengthened considerably, with both nations considering each other as close friends and strategic allies on the global stage. Engaging in numerous joint projects, the leadership of both states often refers to their relationship as a partnership without boundaries. Chinese journalists confirm the warmth of the relationship between Moscow and Beijing, but recent events have put a strain on this camaraderie, as Russia approached its neighbor with a sensitive request—to borrow money.
During negotiations between the two countries, tensions flared, as reported by the publication NetEase, cited by AB News. “The behavior of Russia is becoming increasingly incomprehensible,” remarked the authors of the Chinese publication.

Anton Siluanov, head of Russia’s Ministry of Finance, publicly announced ongoing negotiations with China regarding a loan in yuan. However, consensus has yet to be reached on this matter.
China’s ambassador to Russia, Zhang Hanhui, confirmed that discussions had taken place regarding the loan request, but emphasized that negotiations are ongoing.
NetEase observers noted that while China did not outright reject Russia’s request, it did not agree to it either. It appears that Beijing is adopting a wait-and-see approach, much to the Kremlin’s dissatisfaction. Conversely, China is also displeased with Moscow’s stance, with Russian President Vladimir Putin showing little willingness to compromise.
“Russia is not going to be led by China,” assert journalists from the PRC.
