Hanoi: In a demonstration of sustained corporate interest following last year’s upgraded ties between Washington and Vietnam, a significant U.S. business delegation, including Meta, Boeing, and wind energy firm GE Vernova, is set to visit Vietnam this week. Organized by the US-ASEAN Business Council, the delegation comprises approximately 50 companies, mirroring a similar-sized delegation brought to Vietnam by the council last year.
Joining the delegation are prominent entities such as conglomerate Koch Industries, safety standards firm UL Solutions, insurance group Chubb, gaming company Roblox, weather forecasts provider ATMO, and energy firm AES.
Many of these companies already have established operations in Vietnam. Meta’s Facebook, for instance, boasts over 60 million users in the country, marking it as one of its largest global markets. Additionally, Boeing finalized a preliminary agreement with Vietnam Airlines last year for the sale of 50 of its 737 planes.

U.S. President Joe Biden’s efforts to enhance relations with Vietnam last year included a push for increased cooperation in the semiconductor industry. However, organizers noted that no semiconductor firms are included in this week’s business delegation.
Scheduled from Tuesday to Thursday, the business mission will entail meetings with local authorities. Furthermore, a smaller delegation comprising security firms is slated to explore potential business prospects with representatives from Vietnam’s ministries of defense and police on Monday, as outlined by the organizers.
