West Bengal Gears Up for 18th General Election: Prominent Actor Payel Sarkar Joins Campaign Efforts

Preparations in Full Swing as Lok Sabha Election Commences on April 19th, Concluding on June 1st

Kolkata, India: As India braces for its 18th General Election, preparations for the imminent Lok Sabha Election are in full swing. Playing a pivotal role in the Indian Parliamentary system, West Bengal spearheads the election campaign. The Howrah district, alongside Kolkata, emerges as a key battleground, echoing its significance in every election cycle.

Amidst the flurry of political activities, prominent personalities are stepping forward to lend their support. Actress, philanthropist, social worker, and active political enthusiast Payel Sarkar has thrown her weight behind the campaign efforts, adding her star power to the electoral landscape.

Under the initiative of Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal and General Secretary of TMC Abhishek Banerjee, the political machinery is in full swing. On Friday (15th March), a fair and cultural program was organized in Howrah Shyampur to mark the re-establishment of the Kali Mandir. This event, spearheaded by Sridhar Mandal, Chairman of Howrah Zilla Parishad and Howrah Gramin Trinamool President, drew significant attention from both locals and dignitaries.

Despite inclement weather, the inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Payel Sarkar, who is also the President of the Crime Control Bureau, along with other esteemed guests. Bengali film director Lopamudra Mukherjee and several distinguished individuals graced the occasion, emphasizing the significance of the event.

The proceedings commenced with traditional rituals, including the lighting of the lamp, followed by the felicitation of guests. Lopamudra Mukherjee and Sridhar Mandal delivered speeches. Payel Sarkar, known for her eloquence and charisma, captivated the audience with her impassioned speeches, melodious songs, and engaging dialogues from her Acting World.

The event reached its climax with Shri Sridhar Mandal being honored for his exemplary social service work, recognized by the “Crime Control Bureau” Department of the Government of India. Payel Sarkar had the privilege of presenting him with the prestigious award, highlighting his contributions as a ‘Shrestha Samaj Sevak’ in 2024.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 Dates

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Saturday that the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases: April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Vote counting for all elections, including by-elections, assembly elections, and general elections, is slated for June 4. It’s worth noting that the current government’s term is expected to end on June 16.
