On this day in history, March 16, 2012, Sachin Tendulkar etched his name in cricketing folklore by becoming the first batsman to achieve the remarkable feat of scoring 100 international centuries. The iconic moment unfolded during India’s Asia Cup 2012 clash against Bangladesh, captained by Mushfiqur Rahim, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Following the early dismissal of Gautam Gambhir, Tendulkar, alongside Virat Kohli, resurrected India’s innings with a commanding 148-run partnership.
Tendulkar reached his fifty in 63 deliveries before meticulously constructing his century in 139 balls. However, his innings was curtailed by the legendary Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza, in the 47th over of the Indian innings.
In addition to Tendulkar’s heroics, Virat Kohli contributed 66 runs, while Suresh Raina added 51 to India’s total. The Indian captain, MS Dhoni, provided a late flourish with an unbeaten cameo of 21 runs off just 11 balls.
