New Delhi: In response to the escalating cases of dog attacks, the central government has put forth a proposal to ban 23 dangerous dog breeds in India. This initiative aims to curtail the import, sale, and breeding of specific dog breeds deemed hazardous, as reported by the Times of India. Among the breeds slated for prohibition are Rottweilers, Mastiffs, and Pitbulls, with mixed breeds and crossbreeds also falling under the ban.
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, in its directive to state governments, has urged them to refrain from issuing licenses or permits for the sale and breeding of these designated dog breeds. Additionally, owners of such breeds are encouraged to opt for neutering or spaying to prevent further breeding.
