The Congress party has unveiled its much-anticipated second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, featuring 43 prominent names vying for seats across several states. Among the notable candidates highlighted in the roster are Nakul Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Vaibhav Gehlot, son of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and Assam Former CM Tarun Gogoi’s MP Son Gaurav Gogoi.
The announcement encompasses constituencies from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Daman-Diu, showcasing the party’s diverse representation across regions. Notably, the list includes the progeny of three former chief ministers, underlining the party’s legacy and continuity in leadership.
In Assam, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, son of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, is set to contest from Jorhat. Meanwhile, Nakul Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, will seek election from Chhindwara, and Vaibhav Gehlot, who previously contested from Jodhpur, will now vie for the seat in Jalore.
In a bid to bolster its ranks, Congress has also welcomed Rahul Kaswa, who recently defected from the BJP, into its fold. Kaswa is slated to contest from Rajasthan’s Churu constituency.
Addressing the diverse composition of candidates, Congress leader KC Venugopal revealed, “In this list, out of the 43 candidates, 10 are General candidates, 13 OBC candidates, 10 SC candidates, 9 ST candidates, and 1 Muslim candidate.”
The list also includes candidates for various constituencies in Rajasthan, reflecting the party’s concerted efforts to secure representation across the state. Notable names include Govind Ram Meghwal from Bikaner, Brijendra Ola from Jhunjhunu, and Lalit Yadav from Alwar, among others. With the release of its second list, Congress aims to strengthen its electoral presence and present a formidable challenge in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Congress party had previously announced 39 candidates in its first list. Notably, former party president Rahul Gandhi’s inclusion in the initial roster garnered significant attention, as he was slated to contest from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency. This strategic move underscored the party’s commitment to broadening its electoral footprint and securing representation in key regions across the country. With candidates carefully selected from diverse backgrounds and regions, Congress aims to mount a robust challenge in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and advocate for the interests of the Indian populace on a national platform.
