London: The United Kingdom has been ranked as the second-worst country for mental well-being according to a new report, signaling a concerning decline in the mental health of its population.
The Sapien Labs – Mental State of the World 2023 report has placed the UK at the bottom of the list, highlighting its position as the second most miserable country in terms of mental well-being.

The study also reveals a correlation between wealth and unhappiness, indicating that wealthier nations tend to have lower mental well-being scores compared to poorer countries.
Contrastingly, the report identifies the Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Panama, Malaysia, and Nigeria as the happiest places in the world.
“In the aggregate, Spanish-speaking Latin American countries occupied the top half of the rankings, while English-speaking South Asia, Russian-speaking Central Asia, and countries of the Core Anglosphere occupied the bottom third,” the report further states.
Moreover, the report highlights that the UK, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia have the highest number of individuals reporting distress or struggle.
