Mumbai: In a dazzling event held in Mumbai, Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszkova claimed the prestigious title of Miss World 2024 on March 9, captivating audiences with her grace and charisma.

Miss Lebanon Yasmina Zaytoun secured the position of first runner-up in the fiercely contested competition, where reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska from Poland graciously passed on her crown to her successor.

Krystyna Pyszkova’s victory marks a significant moment for Czech Republic, as she becomes only the second Miss World from her country since Tatana Kucharova clinched the title in 2006.

According to the official Miss World website, Pyszkova, a talented Czech model, is currently pursuing degrees in both law and business administration. Beyond her academic pursuits, she is also the founder of the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation, demonstrating her commitment to sustainable development through education.

The website further describes Pyszkova’s remarkable endeavors, highlighting her proudest moment of establishing an English school for underprivileged children in Tanzania, where she also dedicated her time as a volunteer. Her passions extend beyond philanthropy, as she is an accomplished musician, proficient in playing the transverse flute and the violin, with nine years of training in an art academy.

Representing India in this global event was 22-year-old Sini Shetty, a Mumbai-born beauty who had previously been crowned Femina Miss India World in 2022. While Shetty was unable to secure a spot in the top 4, her presence added to the diversity and vibrancy of the competition.

India’s legacy in the Miss World pageant is illustrious, with six previous titleholders including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017).

The 71st Miss World pageant witnessed participation from contestants representing 112 countries, converging at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC, Mumbai. The panel of judges for the finale comprised esteemed personalities from various fields, including film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, actors Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, cricketer Harbhajan Singh, and former Miss World Megan Young, among others.
