RuPay Prime Volleyball League | Kolkata Thunderbolts End Season with Convincing Triumph over Mumbai Meteors

Chennai: Kolkata Thunderbolts, the Season 1 Champions and last year’s semi-finalists, concluded their campaign in the third season of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23 with a commanding 15-12, 16-14, 15-11 victory over the Mumbai Meteors at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on Thursday. Prabagaran was deservedly named the Player of the Match for his stellar performance.

Prabagaran’s exceptional blocking skills proved instrumental for Kolkata, effectively neutralizing Mumbai’s offensive efforts. Starting strong from Zone 4, Prabagaran provided stability for the Thunderbolts, while Vinit Kumar’s crucial contribution secured the Super Point, granting Kolkata the lead early on. Despite a formidable challenge posed by Shubham’s powerful serves for Mumbai, Rakesh’s all-round display swung the momentum back in Kolkata’s favor, pushing Mumbai onto the defensive.

Amidst Mumbai’s attempts to regain ground, Aditya Rana’s blocking prowess momentarily halted Vinit’s advances. However, Kolkata’s Captain Ashwal Rai’s aggressive attacks and strategic decisions, including a well-timed tactical review, helped maintain their dominance.

Despite Amit’s valiant efforts to rally Mumbai with his persistent attacks, Prabagaran and Rakesh continued to test Mumbai’s defensive line. Vinit’s pivotal Super Point further intensified the pressure on the Meteors, ultimately culminating in a triumphant victory for Kolkata Thunderbolts, sealed in style with a three-man block led by Arjun Nath.

The Kolkata Thunderbolts exhibited unwavering determination and resilience throughout the match, showcasing their hunger for victory and culminating in a resounding triumph to conclude their season on a high note.
