Mumbai: Yami Gautam’s latest film “Article 370” continues its impressive run at the box office, steadily inching closer to the coveted Rs 100 crore milestone. The political drama, which garnered positive reception from audiences since its release, has now surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark in India and is rapidly gaining momentum worldwide. Here’s a detailed look at the film’s box office performance up to its 12th day.
Entering its second week, “Article 370” maintains its stronghold at the box office despite a slight decline in earnings. The film commenced its journey with a robust collection of Rs 5.9 crore on February 23. On the 12th day, it garnered Rs 1.75 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 54.35 crore.
The film’s success extends beyond national borders, with its global earnings reaching an impressive Rs 77.07 crore. With such remarkable figures, “Article 370” is poised to join the esteemed Rs 100 crore club. Notably, the film was produced on a budget of Rs 20 crore, covering production and advertising expenses.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Aditya Jambhale, “Article 370” delves into the contentious revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Yami Gautam leads the cast, portraying the role of Zooni Haksar, an intelligence agent, alongside talented actors such as Priyamani, Divya Seth Shah, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Arun Govil, Kiran Karmarkar, and Raj Zutshi.
Jointly backed by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under the banner of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film’s screenplay is penned by Aditya Dhar.
In a recent social media interaction, Yami Gautam expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response to “Article 370” and her portrayal of Zooni Haksar. Responding to a fan’s comment speculating about potential awards, Yami humbly stated her focus remains on doing justice to her character and the film’s subject matter.
