Thane: Self-Styled Godman’s Sex Racket Busted

The investigation into this illicit operation was triggered by the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from the Rabodi area, prompting authorities to launch a kidnapping case.

In a startling revelation, Indian State Maharashtra’s Thane Crime Branch officials have apprehended seven individuals, including a self-proclaimed godman, for their alleged involvement in a sex racket operating under the guise of conducting rituals to bestow wealth upon devotees. According to sources within the department, the arrests were made public on Saturday.

The investigation into this illicit operation was triggered by the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from the Rabodi area, prompting authorities to launch a kidnapping case, a senior official disclosed.

Initial breakthroughs in the probe led to the apprehension of Aslam Khan and Salim Shaikh on February 25, who subsequently divulged crucial information regarding the primary suspect, Saheblal Wazir Shaikh, alias Yusuf Baba. Yusuf Baba, identified as the mastermind behind the operation, was later apprehended by law enforcement.

“Yusuf Baba and his accomplices preyed upon financially vulnerable women, enticing them with promises of prosperity through the invocation of black magic. Shockingly, some rituals even involved the participation of women in a state of undress,” revealed the official privy to the investigation.

Authorities have recovered several disturbing videos depicting these rituals, along with other damning evidence, from the suspects’ mobile devices.

Inspector Krishna Kokni of Thane Crime Branch Unit I disclosed, “Our investigation indicates that this syndicate, which includes two female members, may have ensnared at least 17 individuals. The arrests were made across Thane, Vasai in Palghar, and parts of Mumbai.”

The accused are facing charges including kidnapping, rape, cheating, and various other offenses under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, they have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act 2013.

The case remains under active investigation, with authorities working diligently to uncover further details surrounding this disturbing racket.
