Russia Enforces 6-Month Ban on Gasoline Exports

Moscow: In response to escalating demand from consumers and farmers, coupled with scheduled refinery maintenance, Russia has announced a six-month embargo on gasoline exports, effective from March 1st.

The embargo, initially reported by RBC, received confirmation from a spokesperson representing Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

This move mirrors a similar prohibition implemented between September and November of the previous year, aimed at addressing domestic price hikes and supply shortages. Notably, only four former Soviet states – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan – were exempted during that period.

However, in the current enforcement, member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and two Russian-backed breakaway regions of Georgia – South Ossetia and Abkhazia – will remain unaffected by the ban.
