New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar affirmed the Election Commission’s readiness to conduct the 2024 Parliamentary elections and state Assembly elections, emphasizing that all necessary preparations are nearing completion.
In anticipation of the upcoming Odisha Assembly elections, Rajiv Kumar unveiled significant measures aimed at fostering transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process. Out of 37,809 polling stations, webcasting arrangements will be implemented at 22,685 stations, with a particular focus on ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities, youth, and women. Additionally, 300 polling stations will be managed by persons with disabilities, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to inclusivity.
An ECI delegation, led by CEC Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Arun Goel, conducted a comprehensive assessment of electoral readiness for the simultaneous elections to both the Lok Sabha and the Odisha Assembly in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The meeting meticulously reviewed the preparedness of District Election Officers (DEOs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to facilitate a smooth electoral process.
In addition to internal assessments, the ECI engaged in discussions with representatives from major political parties, including the Biju Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party, demonstrating a collaborative approach to ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the electoral process.
