WhatsApp Favorites Tab: Simplifying Communication for iOS and Web Users

New York: Meta’s WhatsApp is rolling out yet another feature, this time introducing a favorites tab to streamline communication with your most frequently contacted individuals. The upcoming favorite tab feature, currently in testing for iOS and web users, aims to facilitate easy access to pinned contacts amidst the vast array of connections on WhatsApp.

Reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp web will undergo a UI update to include seamless navigation between all chats, unread chats, and favorite chats. Presently, users can pin up to three contacts on the home page, ensuring their prominence above other contacts.

With the anticipated feature, users will benefit from a dedicated space housing all their favorite contacts, offering convenience and efficiency. Details regarding any potential limit on the number of contacts that can be added to the favorites tab remain undisclosed.

The implementation of this feature on smartphones poses questions regarding screen space allocation for multiple tabs. Furthermore, the timeline for its availability to non-beta users remains uncertain.

In its ongoing efforts to enhance security, Meta has introduced measures such as blocking unknown numbers from the lock screen to mitigate phishing attacks. Other security features include hiding IP addresses during calls, disappearing messages, auto-call silence for unknown numbers, and the recent addition of Channels, enabling direct updates from brands and celebrities within WhatsApp.
