Pakistan Recalls Ambassador from Iran, has expelled Iranian ambassador, and Suspends High-Level Visits After Strike

Tensions Escalate: Pakistan's Firm Response to Iran's Unprovoked Missile Attack

In response to recent events, Pakistan has declared the recall of its ambassador from Iran and suspended all high-level visits to the country. Pakistan also has expelled the Iranian ambassador. This decision comes in the aftermath of a strike that has heightened tensions between the two nations, prompting Pakistan to take diplomatic measures in response to the evolving situation.

In a stern response to Iran’s missile attack in Balochistan, Pakistan has strongly condemned the action, labeling it an “unprovoked breach of sovereignty.” The Pakistan Foreign Ministry issued a statement declaring the air strike as illegal and asserting its right to respond to what it deems a violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

The Foreign Ministry placed the responsibility for the consequences squarely on Iran, emphasizing the unacceptability and lack of justification for the missile attack. As a measure of protest, Pakistan has decided to recall its ambassador from Iran and suspend all ongoing and planned high-level visits. The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, currently abroad, has been advised not to return temporarily.

The statement on the official Facebook handle of the ministry read, “We have conveyed this message to the Iranian Government. We have also informed them that Pakistan has decided to recall its ambassador from Iran and that the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan who is currently visiting Iran may not return for the time being. We have also decided to suspend all high-level visits that were ongoing or were planned between Pakistan and Iran in the coming days.”

This development follows Iran’s claim that it conducted a “missile and drone response” targeting the Jaish al-Adl group’s headquarters in Pakistan. The strike resulted in casualties, including the tragic death of two children, according to Pakistan. Jaish al-Adl, designated as a terrorist group by Iran since its formation in 2012, has been responsible for multiple attacks on Iranian soil.

The heightened tensions between Pakistan and Iran add to the complex web of crises across the Middle East, with Iran launching missile attacks in Syria and Iraq while Israel engages in conflict with Hamas in Gaza, and Houthi rebels in Yemen targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
