Tokyo, Japan – In a recent incident at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, a Korean Air plane reportedly clipped a Cathay Pacific aircraft on January 16 around 5:30 pm local time (4:30 pm Singapore time). Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the 289 passengers and crew on board the Korean Air flight, as indicated by Yahoo Japan. The Cathay Pacific aircraft involved in the incident had no passengers on board.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a collision at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport just two weeks ago, involving a Japan Airlines (JAL) plane and a Coast Guard aircraft. Tragically, the earlier incident on January 2 resulted in the loss of five lives, all from the Coast Guard plane.
Aviation authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the New Chitose Airport incident. The aviation community and the public are keenly observing the developments, considering the recent occurrence at Haneda Airport.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
